The new personal biography written by Goofy the dog, whom we all know and love from his many classic animation shorts and films, entitled "Goofy? - Why me?" is said to have had jokingly been referred to as "My Personal Hell - casting calls Disney made me go on" prior to publication. It recounts the mental anguish he experienced as a result of what he calls malicious typecasting. After the first of what would later be numerous casting calls Disney would offer him, Goofy received the role of the pure-hearted but bumbling dog we all know him as, perpetually inept, and terminally accident-prone.
Goofy's attorneys maintain that it is true that following this christening role of his long and prolific career, the only casting calls Disney offered him were for the same kind of pratfalling, ne'er-do-well buffoon, who occasionally is portrayed as having a job, but inevitably losing it or destroying the entire business do to his own clumsiness or lack of diligence. Going further in to depth regarding the period between 1972 and 1980 known as "the lost years", Goofy writes about casting calls Disney forced him to participate in under threat of deportation to his native Guyana.
Finally, he recounts one of the last casting calls Disney offered to him for a role in which he was to play a lackadaisical Chef who's boss reams him for his constant incompetence and then warns him not to screw up that day because the health inspectors are coming. The Chef then manages to chop off all of his fingers into a basket of French fries, which the inspectors don't even notice, but because of the hapless chef's lack of personal hygiene they must soon be rushed to the hospital with severe cases of hepatitis. According to the book, this was the last straw for Goofy, and he refused to accept any further casting calls Disney tried bringing to the table in the future.
